9 Beaches staff rescues wildlife

Last weekend a green and yellow Budgerigar fell from the sky in Sandys and landed 75 feet offshore. Bird-friendly people were already assessing the best course of action. He struggled to take off without success.

9 Beaches bartender, Paul Archer, commandeered a boat and Rachel Fuhrtz arrived in a hurry to assist in the bird's rescue. Paul paddling with an oar; Rachel used her arm. When the two arrived at the bird's location, it accepted Rachel’s outstretched arms and was soon tucked under her shirt.

The rare Budgerigar is doing well, thanks to the efforts of Paul and Rachel. Thank you!
